America’s Warped View of Tragedy

John M. Leone

When a country unites as a result of a national tragedy, it can be a wondrous thing to behold.  Normal bickering and petty disputes seem to subside into the background as people rally behind a common cause.  Following the September 11th attacks on America, this nation gathered a massive amount of resolve unto itself and confronted the attackers with great determination and unity.

For a period of time that seemed all too short, the great citizens of the United States of America recognized the grave threat to their security as a result of this horrific massacre of innocent life.  Approximately 3,000 people died as a result of the brutal and unprovoked terrorist attacks.  Our citizens called for immediate action and vengeance against the murderers of our innocent citizens.  The government responded immediately, and at great monetary cost, deployed a massive amount of soldiers and materiel overseas to deal with those responsible.

Over the lives of 3,000 innocents, America came together and righteously fought against the tyranny of those who would take more innocent life in the future if left unchecked. Yet, every ten days in America, an average of 3,926 innocent lives are violently and brutally taken by the hands of abortionists all over the country.

Since abortion-on-demand was legalized in 1973, approximately 43 million innocent infants have been dismembered until dead, torn apart by powerful vacuum devices until dead, stabbed in the neck until dead, or burned to death through legal, though not moral, means. Every single one of these lives was just as innocent as the 3,000 that died on September 11th.  Yet, there is no public outcry for action to save these particular innocent lives that die by means every bit as brutal as those who died on September 11th.

To put the incredible number of 43 million lives into perspective, here are some comparisons:

  • 3,000 died on 09-11.  This is 0.00006 percent (six-one hundred thousandths of one percent!) of the 43 million lives taken over the last 30 years.

  • More innocent lives are murdered as a result of abortion in America every ten days (on average) than were killed on 09-11 (3,926 vs. 3,000).

  • The 3,000 killed on 09-11 are a mere 0.025 percent of the 119,444 killed by abortion in one month.

  • The 3,000 killed on 09-11 is only 0.002 percent (two thousandths of one percent!) of the 1,433,333 babies murdered by abortion in one year.

In America, it is apparently okay to murder innocents as long as we are the ones “choosing” to do so.  In America, some lives have more value than others, yet this is supposedly a nation built on the idea of “equality.”

If outrage was based on the sheer number of innocent lives taken, the abomination of abortion in America would have been declared illegal a long while ago.  Instead, Americans seem to be permanently embedded in a selective amnesiotic state as it pertains to dismembered corpses, choosing to be outraged by bloody human remains merely some of the time.

I believe the main reason that Americans are not outraged and united against the horror of abortion is because the “procedure” is shrouded in misleading language and mystery.  There is no such mystery as it relates to the widely televised events of 09-11.  Nearly every American has seen the attacks in full Technicolor in our living rooms across the nation.  A major key to reversing this holocaust of our unborn is persistent educational efforts.    If more Americans saw and knew more about abortion “methods”, the more Americans would become outraged and take action against it.

I am calling on everyone who reads this article to first educate themselves on this self-inflicted holocaust.  Secondly, I am calling on those who oppose abortion to separate themselves from any affiliation or association with any organizations that support this brutality and tyranny.  Many people like to give lip service as being against abortion, but when the time comes to step up and take action for your beliefs and against organizations that actively support abortion, submission to the status quo is the usual outcome, as static inertia and comfort becomes a force too great for some to overcome.

Separation and the withholding of funds from organizations that support abortion is a key component of this battle.  Do not give into the tempting thought that you are only one person, and that you can make only a limited impact in this fight.  Can you imagine the disastrous outcome of our major wars if all of our individual soldiers in battle suddenly gave in to this mentality of submission and laid down their weapons?  These types of thoughts are the lies of the devil, and will infect your thinking like a corrupt and insidious virus if you allow them to.

If you belong to a political party that overwhelmingly supports this abomination, such as the Democratic Party, remove yourself from it, and vote accordingly.  Do not vote for pro-abortion candidates regardless of their party affiliation or of any otherwise attractive platforms beside the abortion issue.

If you belong to a church or major denomination that gives lip service against abortion, but in reality condones it (such as the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., the United Methodist Church, Episcopal Churches, the American Baptist Churches, U.S.A., or any denomination affiliated with the National Council of Churches, remove yourself immediately from it and join a Bible-believing church that openly opposes abortion.  (If moral and religious people don’t lead this fight against darkness, no one remains in America who will.)

The Bible clearly commands Christians to separate themselves from those involved with wickedness and unrighteousness in multiple passages (2 Corinthians 6:14-18, Romans 16:17, Ephesians 5:11, 2 Chronicles 19:2, 2 Timothy 3:1-5, Titus 3:10, and 2 Thessalonians 3:6 and 14-15).  Separation from a church you belong to can be difficult, especially when family and friends are involved, but in the words of Pastor Mark Franklin, “A vigorous stand against apostasy is necessary to maintain the purity of the church.”  What cause could be more worthy of fighting for than that of the battle for the purity of our churches against the forces of darkness and those who compromise with darkness (thereby condoning it)?

When the resources of these pro-abortion institutions are sapped and drained of their resolve, the time will be ripe to deal a deathblow to our modern-day Silent American Holocaust, bringing an end to the bloodshed of innocent lives.

Relentless pressure, education, and prayer are the keys to victory in this great battle against evil in our society today.  America must once again lead the world to greater heights of freedom, instead of remaining mired in the ruins of the condemnation and destruction of an entire class of people in our society.  Moral people of strong will must lead this fight forward and become champions of the innocent, even as others will sit idly by on the sidelines and make excuse after excuse and argument after argument while murder is rampant upon our most helpless of souls.

This battle will be fought person by person, family by family, and church by church.  It all begins with you.  Shake yourself from your reverie, take a bold stand, and make an impact not only in your own life, but also in the lives of those around you for the better.

If you don’t believe abortion is every bit as brutal and violent as what occurred on 09-11, please see the article “Abortion Procedures and Methods” on this web page. And if you have never seen a picture of an aborted baby, please educate yourself and see this web page for pictures (photographic snapshots of hell) of our murdered little ones (as young as 8 weeks old) at the hands of “compassionate” doctors.
